What is homeopathy?
Homeopathy is a natural system of medicine which uses remedies to restore the person to health by stimulating the body’s own ability to heal itself.
It treats the underlying cause of illness and not just the symptoms. In doing so, it can improve the long-term health and well-being of the person, not just the immediate problem.
Homeopathy uses two basic principles to prescribe remedies:
The first is 'let like be cured by like'. This means that that when a particular substance produces symptoms in a person, a low homeopathic dose of the same substance can bring about a cure.
The second is the principle of minimum dose. A homeopath aims to stimulate the body’s immune system by using the minimum dose necessary.
How is homeopathy different?
Homeopathy treats the whole person, taking into account all symptoms as well as lifestyle and personal traits. The homeopath will ask patients about their emotional and physical well-being in order to obtain a complete picture of the person.
Homeopathy aims to restore balance to the immune system by stimulating the body’s own ability to heal itself. This gradually eliminates the symptoms as well as their underlying causes.
It is safe and gentle. As remedies are made to avoid basic side effects, homeopathy can be used at all stages of life, from conception to old age. It can also be used safely in conjunction with conventional medicines.
